Below are the nitty-gritty conclusions I made during my experiment. I’ll give more information on the seltzer I ended up choosing and why. Dive in and feel free to leave any comments of your own if you’ve tried any of these brands!

The Ultimate Choice!

Magic Cactus

Magic Cactus was hands down the best seltzer I tried. It stands out among its competitors with its unique combination of flavors—lavender raspberry, watermelon hibiscus, and spiced peach–along with its competitive price point and nutritional value.

Intended effect: it's pretty chill. One can is roughly equivalent to a light beer or glass of wine, not too much buzz, just a lil flush, a lil giggly, but totally coherent. 2x is approaching buzz territory.

Health profile: With only 20 calories, no added sugar, and sweetened with monk fruit, this beverage is not only refreshing but also guilt-free. The addition of L-theanine and cactus water enhances hydration and relaxation, making it an ideal choice for those wanting a booze-free buzz without the brain fog.

Price: Magic Cactus is competitively priced at just over $79 for a 24-pack / $43 for a 12-pack, making this the ideal choice for a gathering with friends, and ensuring your fridge will always be stocked. Not to mention, it’s widely available as it ships across the continental US.

Taste: The flavor profile was the best of all brands I tried—light, refreshing, and rich in flavor without being overly sweet. If I had to rank the flavors, my personal favorite is lavender raspberry, watermelon hibiscus is a close second, and then spiced peach.

While I enjoyed several other noteworthy seltzers available, Magic Cactus emerged as the top choice for me, with its flavorful, low-calorie, and functional beverage that provides an enjoyable experience without the downsides of traditional alcoholic drinks.

Wynk Countdown Seltzer

Wynk Countdown Seltzer features a trio of bold flavors: Cosmic Lemonade, Berry Force, and Orange Blast.

Intended effect: Each can delivers a potent 10mg of Delta-9, combined with 100mg of caffeine for an energizing buzz.

Health profile: with a sweet cane sugar base and a refreshing carbonation, this beverage is ideal for social drinkers and those looking for an alternative to energy drinks. However, the 40-50 calories per serving is on the higher end of the brands I’ve tried.

Price: the higher price point of $66.99 for a 12-pack is high and may deter some consumers.

Taste: I did enjoy the taste – light and bubbly, with a tangy citrus burst.

Cann Social Tonics

Cann Social Tonics offers a low-dose experience with flavors like Blood Orange Cardamom and Lemon Lavender.

Intended effect: Each 8oz creates a mild and social buzz similar to that of light alcoholic beverages. It targets those looking for a sessionable drink without the high dosage content.

Health profile: Like most brands, Cann is gluten-free and vegan, and uses all-natural flavors and fresh fruit juices. They do have high added sugar content at 10 grams per serving.

Price: priced at $66 for a 12-pack, Cann is on the higher end of the price range especially compared to its smaller serving size

Taste: The use of agave nectar adds a natural sweetness, and the flavors are very refreshing, made with all-natural ingredients. Although I did find the flavors can be somewhat similar.

Hippie Water

Hippie Water presents a unique approach with flavors like Garden Party and Island Getaway.

Intended effect: Each can is infused with 5mg for a relaxed, social buzz. 5mg is definitely on the higher end for most brands I tried.

Health profile: Hippie Water is anywhere from 25-30 calories which isn’t bad, but does contain 7-8 mg of carbs which is on the higher end.

Price: Hippie doesn’t specify how many come per package, but each flavor is $25, and you are required to purchase a minimum of 2 for $50 on their site, which I found to be a confusing process.

Taste: I did like the diversified flavor options, but I did find the flavor profile to be a little weak, leaving me wanting more.

Brez

Brez is marketed as a fast-acting social tonic, delivering a 1:2 ratio in a 12oz serving.

Intended effect: with a swift onset time of just 15 minutes, this drink is designed for those seeking rapid euphoria and clarity.

Health profile: Similar to Dad Grass, this product has high added sugar (15g or 28% of your daily value!) in just one can. Calories were also on the higher end at 50 which I did not love.

Price: this product is priced quite high at $60 for a 6-pack.

Taste: Although there is only one flavor option to choose from, I have to say it did taste great. It was on the heavier side, hence the 15g added sugars, but it was very flavorful. I only wish they had more flavor options to choose from.

Dad Grass

Dad Grass offers a refreshing Yuzu Grapefruit Mint flavor with a 1:2 ratio per serving.

Intended effect: this beverage is designed for a mild, happy buzz, enriched with functional ingredients like lion's mane and L-theanine.

Health profile: Dad Grass has 10g added sugar – 20% of your daily value. Making this a clear no-go for me.

Price: priced at $40 for a 6-pack, this brand is definitely on the higher price range, especially given its lower dosage at 3mg per serving.

Taste: they only have one flavor (Yuzu Grapefruit Mint) which is very limiting, and I found the taste to be overwhelming. This coupled with the high added sugar content and higher price point, made my decision very clear.

In Conclusion

While the market offers a wide variety of infused seltzers, Magic Cactus clearly distinguishes itself as the premier option for consumers. With its delightful flavor combinations, balanced profile, and added functional benefits, it provides a refreshing and enjoyable drinking experience. Its low-calorie count, natural ingredients, and competitive pricing make it an appealing choice for those seeking a satisfying and guilt-free alternative to alcoholic beverages. For a sessionable drink that delivers both taste and benefits, Magic Cactus is undeniably the standout selection.
